| Since April 15 na rito... |
[Apr. 15th, 2008|01:22 am] |
Hamberdey MS. REGINA LIM!!! (O diba, may peechur pa!) Sana puwede akong pumunta sa Rory's to hang out with you... then matutulog ako so you can chat exclusively with Sir Paul Gongora. hehehe. Kaso walang Rory's sa New York. At Martin. Labo.
Anyway...
In any case, uminom ka! Last time na uminom ako, na-in love ako (CHOS!)... malay mo ikaw rin. hehehe.
Basta, habahabeeberdey! Amishoo! Alabshu! And to quote the Teletubbies: "Big hug!"
Pasensya na, sabaw! :-) |

Ang husay talaga ni Jojit Lorenzo. (may typo nga lang sa text, but still!) With Arnold Reyes, no less! Namamayagpag ang lola! Mukhang exciting maging manonood sa Pebrero 2008. :-) |

| Kidding Around the PETA Theater Center |
[Aug. 31st, 2007|04:45 pm] |
|
CB Garrucho’s Tele-Aralan ng Kakayahan (at least the arts and crafts episodes) was to me then, what Art Attack probably is to kids now. Perhaps because I had developed an interest for making things early on, I was just enthralled by how the guests on Ms. Garrucho’s show tinkered with treasures from a place called Tabora (which I imagined to be every crafter’s paradise) and, moments later, produce from under the table something more magnificent than what they had at the beginning. I don’t remember which came first—having longer school hours (which prevented me from catching the show) or Tele-Aralan getting cancelled—but there came a point when I didn’t get to see the show anymore. And though I never lost interest in making things, growing up without Tele-Aralan also brought with it the realization that while Tabora is indeed a crafter’s paradise, it can also be one hell of a congested, foul-smelling street, and that without the magic of television, finished products don’t just pop out from under the table. Through the kindness of Gibbs Cadiz and the folks at pinoycentric.com, however, I got to see CB Garrucho again, not on TV, but in person at the PETA Theater Center. As it turned out, she would be giving us lucky bloggers the tour of the premises, and, along with her “resource persons,” acquaint us with the craft of theater. Naturally, I was like a kid watching Tele-Aralan all over again, which was actually a good thing, because if I weren’t on “kid-mode”, the prospect of spending an afternoon singing, dancing and playing dress-up with a bunch of strangers would have scared the hell out of me. It still scared me a bit, but like the other bloggers, I just threw myself into the tour activities which had us learning a song, doing movement exercises, wearing weird costumes (I got a bonnet with dreadlocks), and forming tableaus in a couple of different venues in the theater center, after which, they had us showcase everything we learned on the actual PETA stage. True, it wasn’t the kind of tour I was expecting, but it turned out to be more interesting and actually more fun. More than anything, those activities reminded me about what I always hear but often forget whenever I encounter the grown-up issues of stress, frustration and heartache (yes, heartache) involved in theater production—that theater is all about play. It is supposed to be fun. Nowhere was this spirit of play more evident than in, well, the play that we got to see after the tour (but of course!). Christine Bellen’s Batang Rizal, PETA’s initial offering for its 40th season, is a brilliantly-staged, highly-entertaining re-imagining of our national hero as a child (and human being in general) as seen through the eyes of a time-traveling elementary school kid (whew, that’s a lot of hyphens!). I had seen something with a similar concept before (a vignette in Dulaang Sibol’s Centennial production, Duyan ng Giting), but I quickly forgot about it and instead found myself laughing at the numerous antics of the (mostly) young cast, tearing up at the more touching mother-son moments, and even getting goose bumps when the giant pad paper screen (?) was first raised to signify the shift in time period and when the young Rizal first found out that he was going to be killed. But what is great about the play is that aside from the entertainment value, it also imparts valuable lessons to the audience, especially on the topics of nationalism and heroism. Personally, I think one of those lessons is that, like in a play, doing something good for our country is mainly just a matter of doing our parts the best way we can. That sure beats anything I ever learned from Tele-Aralan! After that experience, if ever I would be made to choose between an afternoon of watching Tele-Aralan (or any other TV show for that matter) and an afternoon in the theater, I would gladly choose the latter. And I hope that by posting this entry, I would have done my part in convincing even just a few others to do the same. |

So yun.

Eh may ganun! hehehe

[Jul. 6th, 2007|08:06 pm] |
------------------------------------------ Nanood ako ng Palanca in my Mind at Hubad (The Best of Virgin Labfest 2)sa CCP nung isang araw, kasama ng aking balikbayan friend.

Makikita ang ilang halimbawa after the lj cut (may pictures kasi)...

| Numbalikdiwa |
[Jun. 25th, 2007|01:25 pm] |
Well, at least I think so. hehehe. Abangan niyo para ma-confeerm! |

the Star Movies Star Wars 30th Anniversary Marathon!
O diba! Bangag na nga siguro ako. Yebah!
at dahil bangag na rin lang ako... allow me to gloat:

| Buwan at... uhm, Bituin |
What is a Blue Moon? There are in fact two definitions for a blue moon. According to the more recent definition, a blue moon is the second full moon in a calendar month. For a blue moon to occur, the first of the full moons must appear at or near the beginning of the month so that the second will fall within the same month (the average span between two moons is 29.5 days). May 2007 had two full moons: the first on May 2, the second on May 31—that second full moon was called the blue moon. Note that the May 31 date applies to most of the Western Hemisphere, including the United States. In the Eastern Hemisphere, the full moon in question occured on June 1. For that half of the world, the blue moon will be on June 30, 2007.
Ayun naman pala.
------------------------------
Hmm....

On a more direct relation to ELMER, I can now definitely say that #3 will be out in September 2007 and the last issue on December. A compilation will follow sometime in mid 2008. I know a lot of people have been asking for the third issue (THANK YOU!) and I want to say I appreciate the patience. #3 is a very special issue (and a rather large one) so it’s taking far longer than I expected. |

Kung kinilabutan ako sa "Stars and the Moon," dito naman, naluha ako. Lecheng Jason Robert Brown 'yan!
Someone To Fall Back On I’ll never be A knight in armor With a sword in hand, Or a kamikaze fighter; Don’t count on me To storm the barricades And take a stand, Or hold my ground; You’ll never see Any scars or wounds - I don’t walk on coals, I won’t walk on water: I am no prince, I am no saint, I am not anyone’s wildest dream, But I can stand behind And be someone to fall back on. Some comedy - You’re bruised and beaten down And I’m the one Who’s looking for a favor. Still, honestly, You don’t believe me But the things I have Are the things you need. You look at me Like I don’t make sense, Like a waste of time, Like it serves no purpose - I am no prince, I am no saint, And if that’s what you believe you need, You’re wrong - you don’t need much, You need someone to fall back on... And I’ll be that: I’ll take your side. If I’m the only one, I’m used to that. I’ve been alone, I’d rather be The half of us, The least of you, The best of me. And I will be Your prince, I’ll be your saint, I will go crashing through fences In your name. I will, I swear - I’ll be someone to fall back on! I’ll be the one who waits, And for as long as you’ll let me, I will be the one you need. I’ll be someone to fall back on: Your prince, Your saint, The one you believe you need I’ll be - I’ll be Someone to fall back on. |

[May. 17th, 2007|05:06 pm] |
"Stars and the Moon" from the show "Songs For A New World" by Jason Robert Brown
I met a man without a dollar to his name Who had no traits of any value but his smile I met a man who had no yearn or claim to fame Who was content to let life pass him for a while And I was sure that all I ever wanted Was a life like the movie stars led And he kissed me right here, and he said,
"I'll give you stars and the moon and a soul to guide you And a promise I'll never go I'll give you hope to bring out all the life inside you And the strength that will help you grow. I'll give you truth and a future that's twenty times better Than any Hollywood plot." And I thought, "You know, I'd rather have a yacht."
I met a man who lived his life out on the road Who left a wife and kids in Portland on a whim I met a man whose fire and passion always showed Who asked if I could spare a week to ride with him But I was sure that all I ever wanted Was a life that was scripted and planned And he said, "But you don't understand —
"I'll give you stars and the moon and the open highway And a river beneath your feet I'll give you days full of dreams if you travel my way And a summer you can't repeat. I'll give you nights full of passion and days of adventure, No strings, just warm summer rain." And I thought, "You know, I'd rather have champagne."
I met a man who had a fortune in the bank Who had retired at age thirty, set for life. I met a man and didn't know which stars to thank, And then he asked one day if I would be his wife. And I looked up, and all I could think of Was the life I had dreamt I would live And I said to him, "What will you give?"
"I'll give you cars and a townhouse in Turtle Bay And a fur and a diamond ring And we'll be married in Spain on my yacht today And we'll honeymoon in Beijing. And you'll meet stars at the parties I throw at my villas In Nice and Paris in June."
And I thought, "Okay." And I took a breath And I got my yacht And the years went by And it never changed And it never grew And I never dreamed And I woke one day And I looked around And I thought, "My God... I'll never have the moon." |

[May. 17th, 2007|10:54 am] |
Hence...
1.)Put your music player on shuffle 2.) Press forward for each question. 3.) Use the song title as the answer to the question.
1.) How am I feeling today?
Pretty Pathetic-Smoking Popes (Anubeh! Una pa lang, 'sakto na!)
2.) How will I feel getting married?
Beacon of Positivity-OST Legally Blonde the musical (So dapat akong ikasal para maging ilaw sa aking kapwa?)
3.) What is my best friend's theme song?
Agony-OST Into the Woods (Haha...misery loves company talaga.)
4.) Highschool is?
Beyond My Wildest Dreams-The Little Mermaid on Broadway demo recording (Umm, well, in some ways, totoo naman.)
5.) I am...
If I Told You-OST The Wedding Singer the musical (I am...if I told you? So if I didn't tell you, I'm not? Labo.)
6.) How is today?
Single-OST The Wedding Singer the musical (Well, it's like this everyday...maliban na lang nung kami ni...never mind.)
7.) What is in store for this week?
I Know Things Now-OST Into the Woods (Talaga? Bakit hindi ko alam?) 8.) What song best describes my parents?
Good Boy-OST Legally Blonde the musical (Kantang tungkol sa aso? Hmm...may gusto ba itong iparating sa akin?)
9.) How is my life going?
Somebody Kill Me-OST The Wedding Singer the musical (Please! Somebody! Anybody! Kill me now!)
10.) What song will they play at my funeral?
A Note From Linda-OST The Wedding Singer the musical (Sino si Linda? At ano kaya ang note niya?) 11.) Is this going to be a good year?
Do What You Have To Do-Sarah McLachlan (Leche naman eh. "I know I can’t be with you / I do what I have to do / And I have sense to recognize but / I don’t know how to let you go...")
12.) What's your love life like?
Right in Front of Your Eyes-OST The Wedding Singer the musical (Ows? Talaga? Asan?) 13.) What's your favorite?
Legally Blonde-OST Legally Blonde the musical (Corny.)
14.) Best bored activity?
Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want-The Smiths (So ang ginagawa ko kapag bored ako ay...mangarap at umasa?
15.) Favorite quote?
Move That Thang-OST The Wedding Singer the musical (Uhm, ok.) 16.) Song played in your wedding?
Take It Like A Man-OST Legally Blonde the musical (Hahaha. No thanks.)
17.) What is your boyfriend/girlfriend's theme song?
Today You Are A Man-OST The Wedding Singer the musical (So puwedeng bukas, woman naman? What?)
18.) The song that best described your childhood days...
Come Out of the Dumpster-OST The Wedding Singer the musical (Well, hanggang ngayon basura pa rin naman ako.)
19.) The song that keeps playing into your mind...
Saturday Night in the City-OST The Wedding Singer the musical (Di ko pa nga naririnig ito eh. Anyway...)
20.) The song that will make me happy...
Blood in the Water-OST Legally Blonde the musical (Sige nga...kapag hindi ako natuwa ha...)

| kung anu-ano tungkol sa prod |
[May. 3rd, 2007|09:20 pm] |
"...and Tuesday nights at Eddie Condon's with Wild Bill Davison playing that trumpet of his..."--Kikay in New Yorker in Tondo
So paano sila napanood ni Kikay?
Labo. Anyway, it's just me.
-------
Speaking of that staging, nalalabuan na talaga ako sa set...at ako (mainly) ang nag-design nun. Hay. Hahahaha. Woohoo!
-------
-------
Still, today was quite nice.
------
Go Martin! Or should I say...GO MARTS! (hehehe) |

| Elmer and Rizal comics (para kina James at LJ, at sa iba pang baka interesado) |
[Apr. 29th, 2007|09:01 pm] |
|
Well, noong finally nakabili na ako ng kopya last December, sobra akong na-hook.
Ang pamagat ay The Marvelous Adventures of the Amazing Dr. Rizal.
